What is your running "origin story?"
It took me until my late 20’s/early 30’s to discover my love for running.. up until then I had mostly only done strength training and light cardio. I slowly started running for “fun”, and participating in local 5ks and realizing that I was actually starting to crave it. Then I discovered trail running and it was game on from there! Now I’m on ultrasignup all the time looking for new trail ultras to put on the “to run” list.
Best/worst/funniest memory from a race?
Completing my first ultramarathon is definitely a memory I will cherish forever! That was a day full of mixed emotions in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains.
Why do you choose to represent Terra Running Company as an Ambassador?
I LOVE my community! This is my hometown and I appreciate all that Terra has done for and provides for this community. So being a part of that in any way was very special to me.
What are your favorite 3 items in Terra?
Skratch and Honey Stinger goodies. The new Honey Stinger bars are A-mazing! Some of my other favorites include the super soft Terra T’s and of course alllllll the Altra’s!
Favorite place to run/walk/hike in the area?
I love all the trails in the Ocoee if I have time for a day trip. But as far as an everyday favorite go to, that would definitely be Johnston Woods.
What shoe(s) are you currently running/walking in?
Altra Lone Peak 9s for the trail and the Altra Experience Flow for the road.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about running or becoming more active?
A body in motion, stays in motion. It doesn’t have to be a run everyday, just keep moving and find what works best and feels best to you. Do make sure that some of that movement happens outside. I think the sunshine and fresh air can make a HUGE difference for your body and your mind!
